What it is
Renaissance Kingdoms is a long-running MMORPG set in an alternative 15th-century Europe where every loaf of bread and warship is made by players. You work a trade, run for mayor or count, preach, soldier or rob travellers, and play minigames and choice-driven adventures to earn resources; politics happens through elections and persuasion rather than stats. Launched in 2004 by Celsius Online, it is available in more than two dozen languages and now also runs as an early-access smartphone version alongside the browser game.
