What it is
The Grid is a text-based multiplayer strategy game made in the spirit of Risk and Intellivision's Utopia. Players type commands into a terminal to spawn onto a square of a six-by-150 board, spend energy to build cities, defend, raid, graffiti and ally with neighbours, and watch the board update as a full turn completes every 420 seconds. Ghosts without squares still haunt the board, a stock exchange adds another layer, and the game has been online since at least 2012.
